Durant poured in a career-high 54 points in an incredibly efficient performance, helping the Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Golden State Warriors 127-121 on Friday night.
The 6-foot-9 forward had 11 points during one two-minute stretch in the fourth quarter, powering the Thunder to a 17-point lead. With the crowd of 18,203 chanting, ’MVP! MVP!’ he made two foul shots with 2:45 remaining to establish a new career-best scoring total.
’When you’ve got it going, I look at the bench and see how my teammates are reacting, and that just gives me an extra push,’ Durant said. ’Then, I hear the fans.’
Durant made 19 of 28 field goals and 11 of 13 free throws in his third straight game with at least 36 points.
’As a leader, my main objective is to serve my teammates, help them out,’ he said. ’Some nights, I’ve got to put it up, I’ve got to score. Some nights, I’ve got to do other things. Tonight, they found me and I was able to hit a few shots. I just tried to do as best as I can to lead the team and lead us to victory.’
It was the kind of performance that gets fans fired up about postseason awards in mid-January.
’It’s premature,’ Durant said. ’It’s way too early in the season. I try not to think about that type of stuff. Of course, as a player, you’d love to win an MVP award, but I can’t take my focus off the team. Every day, I’ve just got to keep chipping away, keep enjoying the process, and we’ll see what happens.’
Serge Ibaka had 21 points and eight rebounds, Reggie Jackson scored 14 points, and Kendrick Perkins added 12 rebounds for the Thunder (30-10), who won for the third time in four games. Oklahoma City shot 58 percent from the field and scored a season-high point total.
Stephen Curry had 37 points and 11 assists, and Klay Thompson added 26 points for the Warriors (25-16), who shot 52 percent but simply couldn’t match up with Durant.
’We battled him for the most part, and he got hot in the fourth and knocked down some big shots for them,’ Warriors center Andrew Bogut said. ’There’s a reason why he’s a perennial All-Star and future Hall of Famer, and possibly MVP this year.’
Golden State coach Mark Jackson was disappointed with his team’s defense.
’We’re a good enough defensive team to give a little better effort, fight a little bit harder,’ Jackson said.

Andre Iguodala scored his first points of the game on a steal and dunk that cut Oklahoma City’s lead to 82-79 midway through the third, but the Thunder steadily pulled away the rest of the period. A midrange jumper by Durant pushed Oklahoma City’s advantage to 96-86, and the Thunder led 101-91 heading into the final quarter.

This weekend’s UFC 246 is a strong bookmaking and betting match. Both the moneyline and prop menu offer different incentives to each side.
With unfavorable odds on the moneyline, Conor McGregor prop bets could be the way to wager for Saturday’s UFC 246 fight against Donald Cerrone. If you bet that fighter A will throw more jabs, and they throw 100 more than fighter B, but fighter B knocks fighter A out with one stiff right, you still win your bet. The most popular prop bet in the UFC is the victory bet. Victory bets are bets.
The return of Conor “Notorious’ McGregor from a 15-month layoff to battle Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas is more than a battle of high-profile performers, ranked number four and five in the lightweight division.
There are enough questions regarding each fighter — McGregor’s layoff and Cerrone’s history of taxing bouts — to open significant betting variables. Does McGregor, who claims he will make $80 million on this fight because of incentives, still have the hunger? He lost his last bout and has lucrative businesses outside of UFC. Cerrone lost his last two fights but has battled five times during McGregor’s layoff.
To commemorate their scheduled five-round bout, here are five of the best ways to bet UFC 246. The Line: McGregor -315, Cerrone +250
The over-under for the fight is 1.5 rounds, which is also reflected in the range-of-finish props. Bettors lay +150 if the fight ends inside of two rounds. The payout is +375 for rounds 3-4 and a draw is +5000.
Extending to individual fighters, McGregor’s winning rounds range from +175 in round one to +2500 in the fifth. Cerrone also pays 25-1 in round 5 but would return 11-1 for a first-round victory. Translation: McGregor will try to and win early and if Cerrone turns the tables, it will pay handsomely.
A McGregor win inside of two rounds is -115 but a KO in round two pays +650. Victory for him in the round 3-4 package is worth +650, but Round 3 is +1500 and Round 4 is +1900. Basketball first quarter predictions.

Understanding MMA Betting
Don’t feel like an absolute idiot if you don’t know how fight odds are handicapped, that’s someone else’s job. But to make money betting on fights, you’re hoping to really pick an underdog with some favorable odds. Or you can parlay bets, where you select a sequence of fights, only to cash out if every result goes your way.
Now take the UFC 246 PPV main card (which airs on ESPN+), starting with the main event. Favorite Conor McGregor is listed at -320, while “Cowboy” Cerrone is a +260 underdog. The odds on McGregor aren’t really that awesome, right? You’d need to lay down $320-dollars in order to make a hundred bucks. The payout isn’t that great, and this is a comeback fight after all.
There’s little doubt that more bets will be placed on McGregor than anyone else on the card. He’s the most famous dude out there, calling it like it’s a sure thing. However, Cerrone is an interesting play because a bet of $100-dollars wins you $260. Nice little cashout, but only go there if you’re hardcore on the “Cowboy” bandwagon and think he’s gonna win the fight. No sense in just throwing money away.
TheUFC 246 main event between McGregor and Cerrone has the second widest odds on the entire UFC 246 card. In fact, the only fight with a more lopsided line is the prelim headliner between Maycee Barber, the UFC’s new it girl, and quirky veteran Roxanne Modafferi.
Barber, nicknamed “The Future,” is booming these days. She’s quite the hot commodity, slotted into that prelim headliner on ESPN spot that the UFC usually reserves for developing young stars (think Cody Garbrandt at UFC 202). But at -800, there’s no reason to wager that cash. And even at +500, Modafferi isn’t necessarily the best play. Well, the odds are great and you stand to win a lot betting on the underdog. But Barber is destined for greatness, and this is not a fight she will lose.
Is This All Starting to Make More Sense
Outside of McGregor vs. Cerrone and Barber vs. Modafferi, the only other fights with juicy odds are the PPV opener between Anthony “Showtime” Pettis and Diego Ferreira. Wait. Surely, I’m reading this wrong. Ferreira is a -240 favorite of over Pettis, a former champion, at +200? Now, this is a bet I’d look into.
A winner of five straight, Ferreira is technically the hottest fighter on the UFC 246 PPV card. Not to mention that he trains at Fortis MMA in Dallas, a fight team that is coming off of an impressive 2019 campaign. However, Pettis tends to trade wins and losses, and Ferreira is the kind of fight he usually wins.
Not knocking Ferreira here, but Pettis looks like a good play here. He’s fought on the biggest cards in UFC history, even main eventing a few PPV cards. He knows that stakes, and a loss to an unranked guy like Ferreira just doesn’t sound right.
Another good play, this time on the ESPN prelims, is a lightweight bout between Nasrat Haqparast and Drew Dober. With Haqparast listed as a -280 favorite, and Dober a +240 dog, this bout feels prime for an upset.
Early today at the official UFC 246 weigh ins, Haqparast didn’t look particularly good, needing the black hoop of shame to make weight in the buff. Dober, on the other hand, looked better than he has in a while, and he’s known to retain serious power at lightweight, even after some tough weight cuts.
Putting Together a Parlay
When it comes to bouts with much narrower odds, it’s fun to put together a parlay sequence. It kind of makes your money work for you in some sense.
Consider the UFC 246 co-main event …
The UFC 246 co-main event between Holly Holm and Raquel Pennington is a reasonably close fight according to the books, with Holm listed as the -130 favorite, and Pennington very much a live dog at +110. It’s not a huge payout of course (if you put down, a c-note and she wins, you walk away with one ten), but what about tossing Pennington into a parlay? How can you let it ride and turn that fight into a little more cash?
Well, tack it on to a fight or two, like say picking a Pettis-Oleinik-Pennington parlay. To let you understand how it all works, if you would put down $100 on Pettis at +200 and he wins at UFC 246, all of your cash (which is now $300 because you won $200 on Pettis, which is now tacked on to your principle $100) then gets forwarded on to the next fighter, which is Aleksei Oleinik, who is a +105 underdog against Maurice Green.
Oleinik has the experience and skills to tap Green out, and suddenly that $300 becomes $615, which is parlayed on to Pennington. Now, rather than just putting $100 on Pennington to win $110, you’re in a position to walk away with more than $1260 for the same money down. Of course a number of things have to go right.
Prop Betting
Prop bets are random bets. They’re specific bets. Nuanced bets. Absurd bets. They’re not as straightforward as who wins and who loses. People are betting on the national anthem and who will land the first punch. Who will carry a national flag. How many times Conor will drop an F bomb, and will “Cowboy” drink Budweiser in his corner. There’s even a bet on Bruce Buffer’s fighter intros, so you can really understand how degenerative a gambling addiction can truly be.

This weekend’s UFC 246 is a strong bookmaking and betting match. Both the moneyline and prop menu offer different incentives to each side.
With unfavorable odds on the moneyline, Conor McGregor prop bets could be the way to wager for Saturday’s UFC 246 fight against Donald Cerrone. If you bet that fighter A will throw more jabs, and they throw 100 more than fighter B, but fighter B knocks fighter A out with one stiff right, you still win your bet. The most popular prop bet in the UFC is the victory bet. Victory bets are bets.
The return of Conor “Notorious’ McGregor from a 15-month layoff to battle Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas is more than a battle of high-profile performers, ranked number four and five in the lightweight division.
There are enough questions regarding each fighter — McGregor’s layoff and Cerrone’s history of taxing bouts — to open significant betting variables. Does McGregor, who claims he will make $80 million on this fight because of incentives, still have the hunger? He lost his last bout and has lucrative businesses outside of UFC. Cerrone lost his last two fights but has battled five times during McGregor’s layoff.
To commemorate their scheduled five-round bout, here are five of the best ways to bet UFC 246. This outlook represents methods and strategy, even more than particular wagers, because there are hundreds of props at major betting operators like DraftKings Sportsbook, FanDuel Sportsbook, BetMGM and PointsBet.The gambling approach to The McGregor vs. Cowboy Fight
Round One: Forget the moneyline for McGregor backers. He is laying in the vicinity of +300 (3-to-1) at the books. Wagering $300 to win $100? Not sexy. There are fertile opportunities for him in the prop field.
Round Two: Absolutely play the win line if you like Cerrone, at returns averaging roughly +250. Props are fine to supplement, but this is like taking the win line at the Kentucky Derby on a 5-2 pick. If you like this, hit the win-line hard and place less on the props (which would resemble the exactas and trifectas of the horse-racing world). Nothing frustrates a bettor more than having the right selection, but betting it incorrectly.
Round Three: Narrow the focus. Books have an enticing prop menu. But you can’t get lost in them, diverting the bankroll. There are numerous victory and method props, over/under and knockout rounds, even the unlikely draw. But they can overlap. Know where you have aimed the money.
Round Four: Determine your operation. A safe build-out can start from picking two-round group packages for when the bout ends. A rounds bet or method prop can be added. Or do you want to go for a slam, betting one prop heavy in search of the big score? Know how much of the landscape you want to travel.
Round Five: The accent piece. Seek a strange angle and place a small bet. McGregor has only lost twice in the UFC. But both times were by submission. Including his last fight. There are long odds on a submission finish in this fight because both fighters are excellent strikers. That’s why the submission prop pays well.
Honorable Mention: Holly Holm and Raquel Pennington fight on the undercard in a rematch of a previous split decision victory by Holm. The books back a long battle, probably a decision. Any fighter on the moneyline at DraftKings (at -137 for Holm, + 110 for Pennington) is not a bad play. The Line: McGregor -315, Cerrone +250
The over-under for the fight is 1.5 rounds, which is also reflected in the range-of-finish props. Bettors lay +150 if the fight ends inside of two rounds. The payout is +375 for rounds 3-4 and a draw is +5000.
Extending to individual fighters, McGregor’s winning rounds range from +175 in round one to +2500 in the fifth. Cerrone also pays 25-1 in round 5 but would return 11-1 for a first-round victory. Translation: McGregor will try to and win early and if Cerrone turns the tables, it will pay handsomely.
A McGregor win inside of two rounds is -115 but a KO in round two pays +650. Victory for him in the round 3-4 package is worth +650, but Round 3 is +1500 and Round 4 is +1900. Basketball first quarter predictions.
For Cerrone backers, individual rounds knockouts return from 22-1-50-1 from rounds 1-5. Submissions return 22-1 to 40-1, depending upon the round.FanDuel Sportsbook

The prop line suggests an early McGregor knockout, at -210.
McGregor on points is +1000 and a submission is +3200. Cerrone returns +700 for a knockout, +950 for a decision and +700 for a submission.
McGregor’s range of knockout victories returns +175 for Round 1 up to +2900 for Round 5. Cerrone’s payouts are +2400 for the opening round and +5500 for a stoppage in Round 5. Cerrone also pays +5500 for a submission triumph in Round 5.

McGregor’s victory spectrum ranges from +170 in Round 1 to +2200 in the fifth.
Cerrone has a similar payout, +2500, for a round-five win. The major difference between them is early, where Cerrone would return +1100 for a first-round victory.
This is a unique menu because it offers half-rounds. The over-under hits the even-money area at 1.5 rounds. That would pay +100 for the over and -121 for the under.
As the rounds progress, the expected stoppage changes the numbers to over 2.5 rounds at +187 and under at -250. Want to try 3.5 rounds? That’s +240 for the over and -358 for the under. Some sweet spots for McGregor are specific round props. McGregor knockout victories in Round 3 (+ 750) and Round 4 (+1200) provide a 10-minute window for McGregor to provide a good return. Putting money on EACH of the rounds and taking a smaller payout is a reasonable way to go for anyone believing in a mid-rounds stoppage for McGregor.

Understanding MMA Betting
Don’t feel like an absolute idiot if you don’t know how fight odds are handicapped, that’s someone else’s job. But to make money betting on fights, you’re hoping to really pick an underdog with some favorable odds. Or you can parlay bets, where you select a sequence of fights, only to cash out if every result goes your way.
Now take the UFC 246 PPV main card (which airs on ESPN+), starting with the main event. Favorite Conor McGregor is listed at -320, while “Cowboy” Cerrone is a +260 underdog. The odds on McGregor aren’t really that awesome, right? You’d need to lay down $320-dollars in order to make a hundred bucks. The payout isn’t that great, and this is a comeback fight after all.
There’s little doubt that more bets will be placed on McGregor than anyone else on the card. He’s the most famous dude out there, calling it like it’s a sure thing. However, Cerrone is an interesting play because a bet of $100-dollars wins you $260. Nice little cashout, but only go there if you’re hardcore on the “Cowboy” bandwagon and think he’s gonna win the fight. No sense in just throwing money away.
TheUFC 246 main event between McGregor and Cerrone has the second widest odds on the entire UFC 246 card. In fact, the only fight with a more lopsided line is the prelim headliner between Maycee Barber, the UFC’s new it girl, and quirky veteran Roxanne Modafferi.
Barber, nicknamed “The Future,” is booming these days. She’s quite the hot commodity, slotted into that prelim headliner on ESPN spot that the UFC usually reserves for developing young stars (think Cody Garbrandt at UFC 202). But at -800, there’s no reason to wager that cash. And even at +500, Modafferi isn’t necessarily the best play. Well, the odds are great and you stand to win a lot betting on the underdog. But Barber is destined for greatness, and this is not a fight she will lose.
Is This All Starting to Make More Sense
Outside of McGregor vs. Cerrone and Barber vs. Modafferi, the only other fights with juicy odds are the PPV opener between Anthony “Showtime” Pettis and Diego Ferreira. Wait. Surely, I’m reading this wrong. Ferreira is a -240 favorite of over Pettis, a former champion, at +200? Now, this is a bet I’d look into.
A winner of five straight, Ferreira is technically the hottest fighter on the UFC 246 PPV card. Not to mention that he trains at Fortis MMA in Dallas, a fight team that is coming off of an impressive 2019 campaign. However, Pettis tends to trade wins and losses, and Ferreira is the kind of fight he usually wins.
Not knocking Ferreira here, but Pettis looks like a good play here. He’s fought on the biggest cards in UFC history, even main eventing a few PPV cards. He knows that stakes, and a loss to an unranked guy like Ferreira just doesn’t sound right.
Another good play, this time on the ESPN prelims, is a lightweight bout between Nasrat Haqparast and Drew Dober. With Haqparast listed as a -280 favorite, and Dober a +240 dog, this bout feels prime for an upset.
Early today at the official UFC 246 weigh ins, Haqparast didn’t look particularly good, needing the black hoop of shame to make weight in the buff. Dober, on the other hand, looked better than he has in a while, and he’s known to retain serious power at lightweight, even after some tough weight cuts.
Putting Together a Parlay
When it comes to bouts with much narrower odds, it’s fun to put together a parlay sequence. It kind of makes your money work for you in some sense.
Consider the UFC 246 co-main event …
The UFC 246 co-main event between Holly Holm and Raquel Pennington is a reasonably close fight according to the books, with Holm listed as the -130 favorite, and Pennington very much a live dog at +110. It’s not a huge payout of course (if you put down, a c-note and she wins, you walk away with one ten), but what about tossing Pennington into a parlay? How can you let it ride and turn that fight into a little more cash?
Well, tack it on to a fight or two, like say picking a Pettis-Oleinik-Pennington parlay. To let you understand how it all works, if you would put down $100 on Pettis at +200 and he wins at UFC 246, all of your cash (which is now $300 because you won $200 on Pettis, which is now tacked on to your principle $100) then gets forwarded on to the next fighter, which is Aleksei Oleinik, who is a +105 underdog against Maurice Green.
Oleinik has the experience and skills to tap Green out, and suddenly that $300 becomes $615, which is parlayed on to Pennington. Now, rather than just putting $100 on Pennington to win $110, you’re in a position to walk away with more than $1260 for the same money down. Of course a number of things have to go right.
Prop Betting
Prop bets are random bets. They’re specific bets. Nuanced bets. Absurd bets. They’re not as straightforward as who wins and who loses. People are betting on the national anthem and who will land the first punch. Who will carry a national flag. How many times Conor will drop an F bomb, and will “Cowboy” drink Budweiser in his corner. There’s even a bet on Bruce Buffer’s fighter intros, so you can really understand how degenerative a gambling addiction can truly be.
Prop bets aren’t really my thing, to be honest with you, but some people are really into them.

A field of 12 has been entered for Saturday’s Florida Derby, typically one of the biggest Kentucky Derby prep races and serves as the crown jewel of the Championship Meet at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida. That won’t be the case this year, of course, with the coronavirus pandemic keeping virtually everyone — bettors, fans and even owners — away from the track for safety and health reasons.
Tiz the Law, a winner of three of his four career starts including the Holy Bull at Gulfstream last month, was installed as the 6-5 favorite at Wednesday’s race draw. Fountain of Youth winner Ete Indien, who ran second to Tiz the Law in the Holy Bull, was installed as the 4-1 second choice followed by Independence Hall (9-2).
Tiz the Law’s connections have hoped this would be the race to provide them with enough points to clinch a spot in the Kentucky Derby, which has already been rescheduled from May to September. The Florida Derby winner gets 100 points, the runner-up gets 50, and either of those places would be enough for Tiz the Law to wrap up a spot.
“We’re still hoping that, even though the Derby now has been moved four months,” Tiz the Law owner Jack Knowlton said.
If all 12 entrants go to the post – that’s the biggest field Gulfstream can have for this race – it would be the largest Florida Derby field since 2008. The purse was cut earlier this week from $1 million to $750,000, a change that was made because there won’t be any on-track handle for the race and because Gulfstream has also shut down its on-track casino in recent days.
Gulfstream Park has been racing without fans for more than a week, and plans to continue through Sunday’s end of its meet. A handful of tracks around the country have remained open, which trainers like Todd Pletcher have said is important. But no one knows how long racing will continue, with the pandemic only seeming to be growing in the U.S.
“It’s just been a frustrating time for everyone,” said Pletcher, who has 8-1 shot Gouverneur Morris in the field for Saturday. “So, juggling some horse schedules seems like unimportant stuff considering what’s going on in the rest of the world.”

In each of the last four years, the tournament has been settled by one stroke or gone to a playoff. This includes Rickie Fowler’s first PGA Tour win in 2012 in that dramatic playoff over Rory McIlroy and D.A. Points. J.B. Holmes is the defending champion.
Quail Hollow is the home of the Wells Fargo, which is located in Charlotte. There are some trends that are favorable for this track, and you should follow them.
It’s a tough thing to follow though given the nature of this field and the odds per dollar with making a good lineup.
2000 guineas betting. Let’s take a more in depth look.
Length is important, but don’t make it a priority for every player
Eagles are plentiful at Quail Hollow. Granted this was a bit on the high side, but there were 41 eagles converted at last year’s tournament.
There are four par 5s.
No. 5, 570 yards – A dogleg left that plays shorter than the 570 yards indicates. As long as you get to the flat part of the fairway around 230 yards out, you’re golden. Length helps, but is not required here.
No. 7, 532 yards – Shortest par 5 on the course and is reachable for anyone. However, the fairway is tight, the green is small, and there is water running down the entire right side of the hole. More on accuracy later.
No. 10, 598 yards – Believe it or not, this hole is more reachable in two than you think. The ground does need to be firm and the wind can’t be in your face, but eagles do happen here as six were given up last year. Obviously length helps here.
No. 15, 577 yards – Conditions and pin placements will particularly determine eagles here. It’s a dogleg left, so it plays shorter than the length. However, it’s uphill on the tee shot, and the green is protected by a nasty bunker in front with a very complex green. Length is necessary to have the opportunity to go for it, but the second shot of having higher-lofted clubs in will help as well.
There’s one key element I left out though – Charlotte just received three inches of rain. Obviously it’s only Tuesday, but the Charlotte Observer on the Wells Fargo Championship website has given us some insight to how the conditions of the course will play out.
Here are the notes to take from it:
1. The course will play longer with the wet conditions.
2. They plan on trimming the rough a bit in comparison to previous years, which gives players more opportunities to go for the green.
3. Given that the weather looks good for Charlotte the rest of the week, the greens should dry out, and they should make the greens firmer and faster than in previous years. This means higher-lofted clubs are better, which means longer hitters are better.
As a side note, I should be emphasizing accuracy a little bit more with certain tournaments, and the Wells Fargo is one where it’s important from an eagles and scoring perspective, historically speaking. However, given that they plan on trimming the rough a bit, and missing the fairway off the tee isn’t too troublesome (there is some water on the final few holes), I’m not too concerned about it.

Because the most important thing is having everyone make the cut. You are much better off having everyone make the cut rather than picking the winner. This will always be true as long as the scoring system on DraftKings stays the same.
Spend as much of the money as you can while making a good lineup that uses odds per dollar, who is playing well as of late and eliminating as much risk of bad play as you can. Length is usually a good tiebreaker to use when deciding between a couple players.
Rory seems good, but is he worth the price?
If you’ve been following my articles, you’ll know I haven’t used him in any of my sample lineups. The truth is, I haven’t used him in any of my lineups that I haven’t shared (maybe like 1% at the Masters just for variety).
This has worked out so far, but it’s not just because he hasn’t won a tournament (besides the WGC Match Play where there was no DFS), it’s more that his price is so high in comparison to everyone else that the scoring ceiling in golf never allows him to be a viable option. The only exception to that is if you picked two golfers at the $7k level and three between $5k and $6k and got lucky.
Remember, Russell Westbrook can go off for 80 FPTS with an astronomical triple-double against the 76ers, or Bryce Harper can tee off for three HRs against the Marins, and you must have them in your lineup to win a GPP. That’s not the case in golf because it’s very, very unlikely the winner will shoot 30-under with six eagles while everyone else is at 15-under or worse (exaggerated a bit, but you get the point).
On this note, I understand it’s very tempting to use Rory this week, and he has had a remarkable history at Quail Hollow. After winning the event in his first appearance in 2010, he’s finished no worse than T10, and he is the definition of length and hitting high-ball flights into the green on par 5s. If you look at our odds per dollar tab, you’ll see Rory is an absurd favorite.
But realistically, the salary simply isn’t worth it. Otherwise, you’re just gambling.
Picks
I’m going to switch up how I do this picks for the foreseeable future. I’ll do this by my favorite plays at each salary level. This will allow readers to see a little more variety of who to consider.
Another thing to consider before you see the picks – after reading some other people’s articles on DFS PGA, it appears many like to favor players who do well at the same tournament in a previous season. Or, they like to fade players when they haven’t performed well.
While there can be some truth to that, such as if a course is set up a way that favors a certain type of player, it’s misguided. Most of the time, it’s just variance, or it’s not put into context appropriately.
An example of a player historically doing well at a tournament is Bubba Watson at the Masters. It favors a fade for lefties, which he likes, and accuracy isn’t that important off the tee since the rough is minimal, and the only time you’ll get a penalty stroke off the tee is on No. 13. Length also helps tremendously.
An example of a player historically doing poorly at a tournament is Zach Johnson at the U.S. Open. While the event is at a different course each year, the U.S. Open is often the longest track of the year, and Zach is a shorter hitter. Zach’s biggest strength is his wedge game, and he often only gets to utilize that on his third shot on par 5s. That’s why in 11 U.S. Open’s, he’s made the cut only six times and finished no better than T30.
But, for example, if a golfer finished T8 and T21 the last two years at at he tournament and he’s $7,000, that does not mean anything. That can happen for anyone at any time. But if you see a purpose that his game really fits the course, he has played the course a ton as a kid growing up and knows the greens, the odds are good, etc – then of course the reasoning is there.
Okay, to the picks.Wells Fargo Championship 2021
High Salary
Henrik Stenson $11,200 – This one is simple. The length and consistency of Stenson is tough to pass up on each week. It also helps that his game is built for pretty much any kind of golf course. Furthermore, going off my previous point before the picks, Stenson didn’t play in the Wells Fargo last year, but he missed the cut in the three years prior. Guess what? Stenson was missing several cuts a few years ago. He won’t be highly used, and he should be a great pick.
Hideki Matsuyama $10,600 – No eagles from Hidkei last week, which was certainly disappointing, but he obviously is capable at any point in making them. He’s been absolutely on fire this year with six top 10s and has made 13 of 14 cuts. His last five events are finishes of T17, 5, T21, T23, T4. There’s no reason to abandon him now.

Adam Scott $8,600 – This is kind of a funny pick for me. I’ve mostly stayed away from Scott this season for two reasons. One, he’s been too pricey. Second, I don’t like how he’s been switching back-and-forth on the putters (190th in putts per round). However, that doesn’t mean a new opportunity presents itself. Scott’s price has decreased significantly, and the odds support using him. On top of that, the depth of this tournament is weak, and Scott’s mediocre results so far this year have been in elite competition. He’s still only missed one cut this year, and Scott is fifth in driving distance.
Justin Thomas $8,600 – One of my favorite rising young guns on the PGA Tour. He’s already logged 18 events with 13 made cuts and four top 10s. Furthermore, he’s made six of his last seven cuts with three of those finishes coming at T12 or better. Thomas is 18th in driving distance and with Quail Hollow not being a particularly challenging course for rookies, he should have another solid outing.
Kevin Kisner $8,100 – The best play from an odds perspective since Kisner couldn’t quite edge Fowler at The Players Championship. Kisner will be used an insane amount, but you’re crazy to not consider him with the run he’s on. He only has one missed cut in his last eight tournaments, and he’s finished second in two of his last three. Despite average driving distance, his aggressive play always puts him in eagle consideration.
Ryan Moore $8,000 – Even with a missed cut by one shot last week (had two unlucky breaks with the water hazards), Moore is still fantastic from an odds perspective. With a T12 at the Masters, fifth at the Valspar Championship, T9 at the WGC Cadillac and several other finishes around T20, Moore typically finishes near the top of the leaderboard anywhere.
Low Salary
Brendon de Jonge $7,200 – If you look closely at the odds per dollar list, players less than $8k are spread out all over the place. I think it’s critical for the cheaper you guys you want the least risky guys who are as high up on the odds list as possible. De Jonge fits that category as he’s the best odds play at his price. He has only two missed cuts this year. One was at the Texas Open, and he was part of that Thursday morning wave where the wind was insane, and players were lucky to break 80 (shot 83). The other was at the Northern Trust Open, where he shot 80 on the opening day. If you take out one bad round and one unlucky weather draw, de Jonge has made every cut since January.Who Won 2015 Wells Fargo Championship
Jason Kokrak $7,100 – Outside of becoming victim to the island hole at Sawgrass and barely missing the cut at the Players as a result, Kokrak has been nearly flawless for someone at his price the last two months. Kokrak has four top 20s and two top 10s since March. The Wells Fargo Championship is next on the PGA Tour, which has provided ridiculous drama in recent history.

In each of the last four years, the tournament has been settled by one stroke or gone to a playoff. This includes Rickie Fowler’s first PGA Tour win in 2012 in that dramatic playoff over Rory McIlroy and D.A. Points. J.B. Holmes is the defending champion.
Quail Hollow is the home of the Wells Fargo, which is located in Charlotte. There are some trends that are favorable for this track, and you should follow them.
It’s a tough thing to follow though given the nature of this field and the odds per dollar with making a good lineup.
2000 guineas betting. Let’s take a more in depth look.
Length is important, but don’t make it a priority for every player
Eagles are plentiful at Quail Hollow. Granted this was a bit on the high side, but there were 41 eagles converted at last year’s tournament.
There are four par 5s.
No. 5, 570 yards – A dogleg left that plays shorter than the 570 yards indicates. As long as you get to the flat part of the fairway around 230 yards out, you’re golden. Length helps, but is not required here.
No. 7, 532 yards – Shortest par 5 on the course and is reachable for anyone. However, the fairway is tight, the green is small, and there is water running down the entire right side of the hole. More on accuracy later.
No. 10, 598 yards – Believe it or not, this hole is more reachable in two than you think. The ground does need to be firm and the wind can’t be in your face, but eagles do happen here as six were given up last year. Obviously length helps here.
No. 15, 577 yards – Conditions and pin placements will particularly determine eagles here. It’s a dogleg left, so it plays shorter than the length. However, it’s uphill on the tee shot, and the green is protected by a nasty bunker in front with a very complex green. Length is necessary to have the opportunity to go for it, but the second shot of having higher-lofted clubs in will help as well.
There’s one key element I left out though – Charlotte just received three inches of rain. Obviously it’s only Tuesday, but the Charlotte Observer on the Wells Fargo Championship website has given us some insight to how the conditions of the course will play out.
Here are the notes to take from it:
1. The course will play longer with the wet conditions.
2. They plan on trimming the rough a bit in comparison to previous years, which gives players more opportunities to go for the green.
3. Given that the weather looks good for Charlotte the rest of the week, the greens should dry out, and they should make the greens firmer and faster than in previous years. This means higher-lofted clubs are better, which means longer hitters are better.
As a side note, I should be emphasizing accuracy a little bit more with certain tournaments, and the Wells Fargo is one where it’s important from an eagles and scoring perspective, historically speaking. However, given that they plan on trimming the rough a bit, and missing the fairway off the tee isn’t too troublesome (there is some water on the final few holes), I’m not too concerned about it.

In live and online blackjack it is always advisable to split if you have a pair of aces or eights. The reason behind that is because there are more 10-value cards than any other in the deck and statistically there is a good chance of hitting at least one 21 when splitting aces.

When dealt a nine the statistics tell you it is best to split as long as the dealer has a two, three, four, five, six, eight or nine. However, it is best to stand if the dealer has a seven, 10 or ace.
If you have a pair of sixes and the dealer has a card between two and six, the best option is to split. When you have a pair of sevens and the dealer has a card between two and seven it is also best to split.
For a pair of fours when the dealer has a five or six, you should split, but in any other situation it is best to take another card.
For pairs of twos or threes, split when the dealer has a card between two and seven, but if not, it is best to hit.
